After a 3-week hiatus at home, I'm back in New Jersey for the long haul. John and I drove up (with the parrots) and will
be staying until after Thanksgiving. My daughter had to return to work, and I'll be caring for baby Andrew for a few months.
We also wanted to be here for all the special occasions - Andrew's christening, the triplets' first birthday, the
first
Halloween with all the grandkids, my dad's 92nd birthday, and my son Anthony's run for mayor of Cinnaminson. So it
promises to be a pretty eventful (and chilly!) few months.
I haven't had a lot of time for writing (other than my
columns for The Island Reporter), but I did a short piece about my grandfather for the November issue that I'm
pretty proud of. If you want to check it out, it'll be online after November first at the paper's website: www.theislandreporter.com. I also scored a nice review for Project June Bug from Gina Pera, an ADHD activist and the author of Is
It You, Me, or Adult A.D.D.? Gina is the director of CHADD in Northern California, and she really liked the book. The
review is posted on Amazon.com. I also learned that Sara-Jayne Caroline Bass, the head of ADDERS in the United Kingdom, is
using Project June Bug as part of her training program. I've also written an article on Inclusion Strategies
for ADHD Students that will be appearing in the November newsletter of the New Jersey Council for Exceptional Children. So
as you can see, I'm doing my best to balance writing and grandparenting, as well as being a good "parrot mommy"
to Bruno and Bear. It really keeps me hopping!
