WHEW!! I have a good excuse for my delay in posting - I just arrived home
after an extended tour of Baby Duty. My new grandson made his surprise
appearance on July 19, one month early and the day before his mom's baby shower. Andrew Robert Morton weighed in
at 5 lbs. 6 oz. and measured 19 inches, and though he was a bit small, he was so healthy that he didn't qualify
as a preemie. I had arrived in NJ on the 18th for the shower, so I got to be in on all the excitement of the
birth. I also had to scrap my plans to return to Florida so I could stay around and help out. The shower went well, in spite
of the fact that the guest of honor had to attend via cell phone. Getting everything prepared for Andrew's homecoming
was pretty hectic, but we managed to have the nursery ready, the car seat installed, and the shower gifts transported in
time for Andrew's arrival. I enjoyed getting to know my new grandbaby and spending time with the triplets (who were fascinated
by their new cousin.) I'm certain the four of them will be raising all kinds of hell in no time. Andrew
is a dead ringer for his daddy, though he has my husband's feet and my penchant for staying up late. He's really grown
in the past seven weeks - he now weighs almost nine pounds and he eats like a champ. The holidays should be a real adventure
this year...four new grandchildren in nine months must be some sort of record!
