Things have been so busy that I didn't realize how long it's been since
I posted anything. Some exciting things have been happening with Project June Bug since I last wrote. The
first week in June, I went to NJ to be interviewed for Comcast Newsmakers, a cable TV program. They gave me a DVD
of the interview, and as soon as I can get it into jpg format, I'm going to post it on the website. So stay tuned!
Another big surprise - PJB has been chosen as a finalist in the Women's Fiction category of the Royal Palm
Literary Awards given by the Florida Writers Association! This is a real honor, especially since there are probably more writers
per square mile here in Florida than anywhere else on the planet. PJB has also scored a pretty nice review in
the July-August issue of Tampa Bay Woman, and it's gotten another "two thumbs up" review on ADHD
& LD Resource Blog, a great online ADHD site. You can check it out at: http://productreviews4adhd.blogspot.com/
On the personal front, I got to spend some quality time with the grandkids during my June trip to NJ. They're changing
so fast! John is starting to crawl, and Christian has said his first word: "Da-Da." Claire, our little drama queen, breaks
into this huge smile every time someone tells her she's beautiful. And we got our first close-up look at Baby Boy Morton
when my daughter had a 3-D ultrasound taken. (Talk about high tech!) As far as we can tell, he has her nose, my lips, and
my husband's feet. He's due to make his appearance in mid-August, and we can't wait to meet him in person. I just
wish my daughter and her husband could finally agree on a name. The clock's a-tickin'!
I've also been busy
getting articles written for my columns in The Island Reporter. I want to get as many in the can as possible before
the new grandbaby comes, since I'll be going up to NJ for another extended baby duty tour. My Florida Authors series
has been going gangbusters. I've gotten four really good interviews lined up: James Grippando, Jeff Shaara, Krisin Harmel,
and Steve Alten. That takes me through the November issue. It's been a fantastic learning experience to talk to these
wonderful writers and see what makes them tick.
So that's all the news. Happy Fourth of July to all. John
and I are planning a quiet day by the pool, ending up with a walk down the beach to watch the fireworks. On Saturday,
there's a "July 5th Recuperation Brunch" at the house of one of my friends from the Anarchist Writers Group.
Should be fun!
